Pelikan is currently headquartered in Berlin, Germany.
It was founded in 1838 by Carl Hornemann as an ink and paint factory in Hanover, Germany. His successor, Günther Wagner, designed the PELIKAN trademark in 1873 for "Little Honey Paints," based on his family's coat of arms, a pelican with its four chicks. However, it wasn't until 1878 that it was registered, making it one of the oldest trademarks in Germany.
