Musgrave Pencil Company is a family business founded in 1916 by James Raford Musgrave in Shelbyville (Tennessee/ USA).
The abundance of Tennessee red cedar, a wood that had proven to be perfect for a pencil, led James to start cutting it and making strips for export to German pencil manufacturers.
