The Blackwing 602 was originally made by Eberhard Faber in New York. Introduced in the early 20th century, it was praised for its unique design and quality as a writing pencil. When Eberhard Faber was sold in 1988, the Blackwing survived for only a couple of years. Fortunately, just a couple of decades later, Palomino acquired the rights to the pencil and brought the legacy of the Blackwing 602 back to life for a new generation of pencil users.
The black wire pearl is the newest of the Palomino Blackwings and is a little softer than the Blackwing 602 black.
