This pencil is understated and completely underrated. As Mitsu-bishi's standard writing pencil (officially designated for 'General Writing'), this green beauty has excellent point retention and a well-finished point.
In the first half of the 20th century, Japanese pencils were labeled with their intended use due to regulations aimed at controlling pencil prices. Pencils designated for specific uses were intended to have certain characteristics and qualities consistent with other brands, and this was reflected in their price. Although this practice is no longer common, the inclusion of these designations is still found on most pencil designs.

Mitsubishi Pencil Company, formerly known as Masaki Pencil Manufacturing Company, was founded by Niroku Masaki in Tokyo in 1887 as the first Japanese pencil manufacturer.
It was at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1878 that Mr. Masaki first saw a pencil and was immediately inspired to create one for himself.
Although still known for their quality pencils, Mitsubishi also manufactures a full range of highly innovative pencils and pens under the Uni brand.
