Despite having a cult following, they were discontinued in the 1990s.
Devotees began paying up to $40 on eBay for a single pencil.
In the early 2000s, they used their access to the world's finest wood, graphite, and artisan manufacturers to introduce a line of premium pencils called Aron Palomino.
The rumor surrounding Palomino led Blackwing fans to petition for him to try to bring Blackwing pencils back for a new generation. In 2010, they did just that.
It features extra-firm graphite, along with a "Palomino orange" body, distinctive gold stripe, Blackwing Palomino gold imprint, gold ferrule, and white eraser inspired by the Palomino pencils that paved the way for the Blackwing revival.
